About two and half years ago I got the opportunity of a lifetime to visit John in Italy while he was studying abroad. I fell in love with the culture, the wine and especially eating and learning about the cuisine. From this experience John and I became very picky about Italian restaurants. In Birmingham we had finally found one that was up to our standards called Bambinelli. They made a four cheese gnocchi that took my senses back to Italy each time I ate it. And yes, I ate that every single time we went. Sadly about a year ago it shut down, and to our dismay we haven’t found one that had come close. That was until recently my friend Ashley and I tried out a new restaurant called Capri. I told her how skeptical I was but that was not going to stop me from enjoying a nice dinner with a friend. The cuisine and ambiance did not let me down. We sat out on the patio with a nice breeze as the sun was setting and enjoyed a glass of merlot and ordered an appetizer, Melanzane parmigiana-
Eggplant topped with Fresh Mozzarella & Parmesan Cheeses with Tomato Sauce & Basil. And for dinner I got the Tortelloni alla Papalina- Home Made Pasta stuffed with Ricotta Cheese and served in an Old World Sauce made with Pancetta Ham, Crimini Mushrooms in a light Cream Sauce. Ashey ordered the Osso Bucco Special. Will I go back? Of course and can’t wait to bring John. Later that evening when I went home and was looking at their website online I realized the restaurant had a cookbook which will be added to my massive collection next time I go.
