So for about a year I have participated in Foodie Pen Pals but I decided with the new move I wanted to try something different. A while ago when I was blog hopping I came across Steph’s Bite By Bite who developed Bakin’ Friends. It is all about connecting people who like to bake. So each month she will send out a secret ingredient to use in your baked good. Then we are paired up with another food blogger, reader, baker, or foodie and bake them a goodie using the secret ingredient, include the recipe and mail it. Sound fun? Well it was!
This month the secret ingredient was CARAMEL. I think John was even more excited than me!
First my package arrived in a Snoopy bag.
Then I opened it up to find these yummy Coffee Caramel Chocolate Blondies from Maya at Chumpkin Butter.
She said she overcooked them slightly but I popped them in the microwave for about 15 seconds, poured a glass of milk and found myself eating quite a few. I love brown butter cookies. It got me thinking what is the difference between blondies and cookies? Do you know? Remember I am finally getting into this baking thing.
Later this week you will get to hear a little bit about my recipe that I made for Dawn over at Butter and Sprinkles so stay tuned. I decided to also participate in Bakin’ Friends because I thought it would stretch me as a baker. I added an additional challenge to me though I wanted to bake something I didn’t already have a recipe for, hence my Chocolate Crunch Bars with Bourbon Caramel.
