It’s that time of the month again, Foodie Pen Pals!! My package arrived and had a great combination of goodies. Courtney from Apprentice is the Beginner sent me a box that had some of my favorites, a treat to reminisce on, and some new things to try.
Look at all the stuff I got:
Pride of the West Batter Mix- which is great because John, his coworkers and I love to have a fish fry
Montana Jerky- The cattle is actually raised in Montana, which John ate the entire package once I opened it- I wonder if he will get any goodies in my next package
Caramel Cookie Waffle- From her hometown old time soda parlor- The cookie wasn’t too sweet which was great for me since I have a savory tooth
Turkey Lollipop- don’t let it scare you, it was orange flavored (also from the soda parlor)
And last but not least my two favorites…
Caramelized onion spread- You can use this as a basting sauces or Courtney said she likes it so much she could eat it with a spoon, and I have to say I agree. I used it on a flatbread with goat cheese and oregano and it was scrumptious!
Rocky Mountain Huckleberry Jam- Courtney said she was not as big of a fan as most are up in Montana but little did she know John and I ate this all the time on our honeymoon in Jackson Hole so we were excited to see it in the box
She also included a recipe to try out with our batter- perfect for our fish fry!! Thank you Courtney for the package!!
Here are a few details about Foodie Penpals. In case you’re unfamiliar with it, here’s what the program is all about:
On the 5th of every month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.
