I think before moving up to Indy I had only made Sangria once and honestly forgot about the drink entirely (obviously the recipe was that good). But when John and I ate at Barcelona Tapas our waitress told her us the basics to their recipe – which actually included boxed wine. So I toyed with the recipe a few times until I came up with the perfect concoction. Here are a few key pieces to this easy recipe though. You don’t have to use a real nice expensive wine. I always get about a $10 bottle. The other key point is to let it sit in the refrigerator for a few hours. And the best part is after you and your friends finish the pitcher you still have the wine soaked fruit to munch on.
Red Wine Sangria
Ingredients
- 2 bottles of your favorite red wine I used pinot noir
- 1/2 c. triple sec
- 1 c. brandy
- 2 lemons sliced & take out seeds
- 1 orange sliced
- 1 red apple cored and sliced
Instructions
- Slice all the fruits.
- Add all ingredients to a pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2 hours (if you have more time I always refrigerate for about 5-6 hours - it makes all the difference in the world!)

So in honor of National Sangria Day enjoy a glass, maybe enjoy it with some Spanish Tapas or a big bowl of Fettuccine Bolognese.
