Cookies that are hidden with vegetables….I bet I piqued your interest didn’t I?
Sorry I have been MIA for the past two weeks. A lot has been going on. I’ll tell you more about that later this week when I share my Creamy Shrimp with Mushrooms and Peas recipe for Hall Nesting’s 5th Birthday! But until then let’s talk cookies!
I have been working on a toddler friendly veggie filled brownie recipe recently but let’s just say it has not been Mama or John Grayson approved. So when I was asked to do a review on these Hidden Garden Cookies I knew this could be the way to John Grayson’s heart. You see I am not opposed to giving him sugar. He occasionally will have syrup on his pancakes and we let him have dipping sauces with dinner. But I also don’t want to go overboard while I can somewhat control his food intake now.
Now John Grayson is not your average toddler. He does eat most things, but then again he is a toddler. Toddler language: there are days where he might only eat blueberries, puffs, or cheese. This is where these cookies come in. Luckily John Grayson will eat a few vegetables here and there but some more so than others.
Hidden Garden foods was kind enough to send me all four flavors to try out. The cookies come in four flavors Chocolate Chip with Pumpkin, Ginger Snaps with Butternut Squash, Red Velvet with Beets, and Cocoa Cherry with Spinach. They are gluten free, nut free, and I repeat packed with VEGETABLES! Another great thing which sometimes is rare today – I can actually look at all the ingredients and know what every single one is. There are no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives.
The Pumpkin Chocolate Chip are by far my favorite. They are now probably a contender for my favorite store bought cookie no joke. I might have purposefully not shared these with the rest of my family. My 2nd favorite were the Cocoa Cherry – I think these were John Grayson’s favorite too. My 3rd favorite were the Red Velvet – I actually thought these would be my favorite because of how much I love beets. I am not the biggest ginger snap person so I knew they would not rate highly with me but JG of course did not discriminate.
So since it’s Hall Nesting’s birthday this week I thought we should celebrate with a giveaway. Hidden Garden Foods has offered to send one lucky reader a prize pack of all 4 kinds of cookies (2 bags each – $48.00 value). Also since these will be in Sprouts Farmers Market stores in April I decided along with the cookies I will be providing you a $25 gift card to buy more of these yummy cookies if you so choose or some other groceries!
