This month I was paired up with Sarah from Ohio. She told me she has a dog, a cat, a snake, a turtle, and 6 chickens. And I thought we had a lot of pets with just three dogs. I know my best friend Rebekah would want to talk to Sarah since I know her new mission is to get some chickens for her new house she bought with her husband. Sarah is currently in the couch to 5K program which I have wanted to start for the longest time and is finishing up with her LPN program. Look at all the fun stuff she sent me – savory, spicy, healthy, and sweet. Perfect package!
The Hot Dog sauce was from her hometown and I used it with some beer bratwurst John and I had this week. It had a little kick to it which I loved. I also got salsa, she must have known how much I love Mexican!! I used this with my quesadillas.
Dark Chocolate Goji with Raspberries – dark chocolate and raspberries. Need I say more? And most of my foodie pen pals send me Justin’s almond or hazelnut butter and trust me I am not complaining. I love the stuff and the little packets it comes in. She also sent me a pie recipe that I can’t wait to try out. But it’s not an ordinary pie there is a little surprise in the pie that most people wouldn’t guess. Maybe I’ll give it a whirl on John.
We all know from last month’s Foodie Pen Pal post that I love beer bread. I am serving it along side some French Onion Soup that I am cooking up this weekend. I used the wild rice last the other night to go with our Lamb and Sweet Potato Tagine. I haven’t made the onion dip yet but can’t wait to try it out for one of our many parties!
Thank you Sarah for putting this together for me!
Have you been reading through my Foodie Pen Pal posts and are a little more curious how they work?
-On the 5th of every month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.
Hope this has peaked your interest just enough to get you to try it out! Check out The Lean Green Bean Blog to sign up!
